Carantec Hydrangeas
In the summer of 2025, we visited France for our annual summer trip. For the fourth year in a row, we split our time between Paris and Brittany. Brittany has become one of my favorite summer destinations. The countryside is beautiful, full of small towns, blooming flowers, and rugged coastlines. You’re never more than an hour from the sea. In 2025, one of our stops was Carantec, a small town with beautiful views of Ile Louët and the Château du Taureau.
Carantec is a small seaside town on the northern coast of Brittany. At low tide, you can walk across the seafloor to Ile Callot, a small island. June and July are great months to visit these seaside Brittany towns, where flowers are blooming around every corner. August brings more warmth and more beach goers. While walking through Carantec, I photographed several homes surrounded by blooming hydrangeas, this was my favorite one:
After visiting Brittany four summers in a row, we changed things up and went to Provence in 2026. I do hope to return to Brittany in a future summer, as it’s a truly beautiful place.

Lovely! I may have to buy one of these prints!
